Goal 4: Education
Part of the UN’s sustainable development goals for education are for all children to have access to a primary and secondary education, and to raise the literacy rate to 100% for all children, and to achieve a substantial rate for adults. In kenya 99% of children complete primary school, and their literacy rates have risen significantly over the past years, and is now 87%. They are making significant progress towards this goal (The World Bank).
Goal 3: Good health and well being
Kenya has not made significant progress towards achieving the goals of health and well being. They have high maternal mortality rates, as well as high infant mortality rates. IF they want to achieve these goals there will likely need to be better technology in Kenya. Another goal of health and well being is 0% population with AIDS/HIV. Currently Kenya has 4.6% of the population living with HIV/AIDS, which is high. Again, this will only change if better technology developed or used in Kenya (CIA).
Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth
Goal 8 strives to reach full employment in the economy and equal opportunity for both men and women in the workforce, and to decrease the number of youth not in school or working. The other part of this goal is to sustain per capita economic growth. Kenya's unemployment rate has remained stable and has not decreased by much in the past decade. In addition, only 63% of women are in the workforce. As far as per capita growth, kenyas has sustained strong growth for many years, and will probably continue to grow. They have much work to do in terms of full employment and equal employment opportunities (HDI).
Goal 7: Affordable and clean energy
The main goal of affordable and clean energy is to ensure universal access to modern energy services. In 2016 on 56% of the country had access to electricity. 33% of their energy comes from renewable sources, but only 33% of their energy comes from fossil fuels, which is low compared to the rest of the world. Overall, Kenya is a long way away from achieving this goal by 2030 (CIA).
